Century Home
This beautiful two-story home was built by the first mayor of Orange City in 1900 and was also home to The Honorable Martin D. Van Oosterhout, chief justice of the United States 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Virtually unchanged in over 100 years, the vintage décor and furnishings, many original to the house, date from 1900-1920, and feature a handcrafted pump organ. The peaceful grounds surrounding the home include trees planted when the house was constructed.
The home is maintained by the dutch heritage boosters.
Little White Store
They say the way to a Dutchman’s heart is through his stomach, and poffertjes are no exception. Stop at The Little White Store for a delicious Dutch delicacy … small pancake-like pastries topped with rum-flavored butter and powdered sugar. Located in a white, 1880s Western storefront, the top-secret batter recipe is cooked on cast-iron grills from The Netherlands. We welcome you to enjoy the store and the process of hand-making a tray of poffertjes especially for you.
