The Orange City RAGBRAI® committee announced campground information for registered riders who will be participating in RAGBRAI XLV and spending the night in the starting overnight host town before heading out on the bike ride across Iowa on July 23. According to JoAnn Weber of the Orange City RAGBRAI executive committee, the main campground is on the campus of Northwestern College in an area just east of the college’s Bultman Center, an athletic facility on the south end of town at Albany Avenue.
“The main campground is about 5.5 acres,” reported Weber. “The Bultman Center will have showers and restrooms available for campers. This campground is primarily for riders utilizing the RAGBRAI luggage service, and will be available on a first come, first served basis.”
According to Weber, there will be other campground areas where vehicles are allowed. These will be separate from the RV lots. This is just the start of our camping areas, we will have over 80 acres available for camping. Many of the charter services are already making location arrangements with our volunteers. We will have information on charter service locations at our information booths on Saturday when riders arrive. Some of the RV camping areas include Town & Country Implement, the MOC-FV High School parking lot, and the Unity Christian High School parking lot.
A map of additional official campgrounds available in Orange City during RAGBRAI will be released in April after charter groups have indicated their needs. Registered riders may also apply for various housing options at ragbrai.orangecityiowa.com after May 1.
