Be a Part of RAGBRAI in Orange City!
Thank you for your interest in being a vendor during RAGBRAI’s start in Orange City on the 22nd of July, 2017. We hope all food service vendors and non-food vendors are successful during this time. Additionally, we hope all RAGBRAI participants enjoy themselves and have a favorable experience in our community benefiting all. We are anticipating around 20,000 RAGBRAI participants to stay the night and it is our responsibility to feed them. This is no small undertaking and we need help from all sectors (profit and non-profit organizations) and businesses.
There is a $350 fee for non-profit organizations and $800 fee for for-profit organizations that desire to be food service or non-food vendors. Additionally, there is a $100 deposit for all vendors for cleanup. This fee will be returned upon successful cleanup inspection. As part of this fee, vendors will receive advertising in the information packets handed out to riders.
Submit the Application and proof of liability insurance (in the amount of one million dollars) must be received no later than June 1st, 2017. Applications received after this date are not ensured of approval and are subject to a $250 late fee. Example PDF
The Orange City RAGBRAI Committee reserves the right to deny any application based on need, space availability, and/or vendor intent.
The majority of the food service vendors will be set up in downtown Orange City, adjacent to the entertainment and IN the beverage garden area. Additionally, some vendors will be in the campground areas. Upon receiving your application fees and Proof of Insurance you will be assigned a space (10’W x 15’D). More than one space may be purchased. Please indicate additional spaces on the submission form.
Food Safety is paramount when preparing food for this many people. Contingent on your approval as a food service vendor a Temporary Food Service Establishment License application will need to be completed and submitted to:
Siouxland District Health Department
1014 Nebraska Street
Sioux City, IA 51105
712-279-6119 or 800-587-3005
You may obtain an application on-line HERE or from the Chamber of Commerce office no later than June 1, 2017. All food service vendors will be inspected by staff from the Siouxland District Health Department.
It will be up to each group to set its own prices. As all registered RAGBRAI participants will have a wristband, RAGBRAI officials recommend that a lower price is charged to those participants with a wristband. For example, if a meal is $6.00 for those without wristbands, then a $5.00 price could be offered for participants with a wristband.
We ask all food service vendors to clean up their areas prior to leaving. If the area is acceptable your $100 deposit will be returned.
Food service vendors are responsible for their own signs at their booths. We recommend printing neatly; signs should include menu items and prices. Vendors are not allowed to use the name RAGBRAI on their signs; however, you will receive an official RAGBRAI vendor sign prior to serving. It is also recommended that the vendor has a sign already made indicating “Out of Food”.
After you are approved as a vendor you will be contacted regarding a pre-event meeting to be held in July. This meeting will cover parking, set-up, food safety and other operating information. It is extremely important that you attend. More details will be given at a later date.
RAGBRAI officials have stated that most participants plan where they are going to eat the night before they arrive in the next town. Also, there are a number of food suppliers in the community who will assist you with all your needs. Please consider buying locally.
All applications should be submitted via the form below. They can be requested and then emailed to: email@example.com or mailed to Orange City RAGBRAI, ATTN: Food and Vendors, 509 8th St SE Orange City, IA 51041.
